Baked Spaghetti Recipe

  • 12 ounces spaghetti

  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey)

  • 1 (24-ounce) jar tomato sauce

  • 1 (15-ounce) container ricotta cheese

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until it's al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef (or turkey) over medium heat until it's browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.

  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Remove it from heat.

  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and eggs. Mix until well combined.

  6. In a large mixing bowl, toss the cooked spaghetti with half of the meat sauce.

  7. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, layer the ingredients in the following order: half of the spaghetti mixture, all of the cheese mixture, and the remaining half of the spaghetti mixture.

  8. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.

  9. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes.

  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  11. Allow the baked spaghetti to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

  12. Serve and savor your baked spaghetti, a hearty and comforting twist on a classic favorite.
